Google is testing a new feature in the Indian market that, upon further reflection, seems almost revolutionary. People cards are something like an online business card, which will make it possible to search the Internet for specific people and receive information in the form of a mini knowledge-panel.
Nowadays, when looking for information about famous people, we already get something similar; the difference will be that any of us graybeards will be able to set up such a panel and fill it with information. So it will be an intermediate form between the knowledge panel and the Google My Business business card.
This can be a powerful tool for influencers of all kinds, freelancers, but also completely private individuals who want to exist in search results.
Only one people card per Google account is allowed, and a phone number is needed to confirm it.
The new feature could also be a starting point for Google to create a robust social media network of real substance – a market segment in which Google has so far failed spectacularly alone.
